Buildings in Nariman Point

Nariman Point consists of about 40 multistoried buildings, which are mainly commercial offices with a few exceptions. Then there are two 5 Star Deluxe hotels - The Oberoi & Trident. Of course, the entire area is built around the Vidhan Sabha complex of the Maharashtra Government.
As most of the buildings came up in the early 70s, they have almost invariably gone through a cycle of renovation in recent times.

Nariman Point is Mumbai's major business district. It is named after Khusheed Framji Nariman, a visionary Parsi, who proposed to reclaim the land from the sea in the year 1940. The region was developed with steely architectural guts filling in the shallows of the Arabian Sea. Dumping the debris in the shallows a solid platform was built with reinforced cement and imported steel, setting up of what exists today in the form of Nariman Point.

Nariman Point today is a bustling commercial hub with the offices of almost all corporate and industrial houses. The place is dotted with several high-rise building that replicate the stunning aura of Manhattan look in India. You can find all the airline offices, most of the consulates and high commission of various countries here. Nariman Point also is home to Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and Vidhan sabha.
